Luke and Taylor Cour are the husband-and-wife team behind Cour’s Retrievers, united by a shared passion for developing confident, capable dogs at every stage.
Together, they have built a program rooted in structure, consistency, and respect for each dog’s natural ability—whether that dog is a family companion, a seasoned hunting partner, or an elite competitive retriever.
Luke Cour
Owner | Head Performance & Gundog Trainer
Luke Cour brings decades of hands-on field experience and national-level competitive success to Cour’s Retrievers. Having grown up around upland hunting and field trials, Luke developed a deep understanding of working dogs and their instincts from an early age.
Luke has over twelve years of experience, gaining invaluable knowledge in hunt tests, field trials, and advanced retriever development. That foundation shaped his training philosophy—focused on drive, discipline, teamwork, and bringing out the full potential of each dog.
Luke leads the Advanced Gundog, Performance Retriever, and Upland programs and has achieved exceptional success across all major competitive retriever venues, including the Super Retriever Series (SRS), AKC Hunt Tests, and Field Trials.

Taylor Cour
Owner | Foundation Training & Pet Resort Director
Taylor Cour plays a vital role in shaping the foundation of every dog that comes through Cour’s Retrievers. With a focus on early development, basic obedience, and exceptional care, Taylor ensures dogs begin their training journey with confidence, structure, and a positive attitude toward learning.
Taylor leads the Puppy Imprinting, Basic Obedience, and Pet Resort programs, where consistency, routine, and relationship-building are key. Her approach emphasizes teaching dogs how to learn — introducing commands in a way that is clear, fair, and encouraging, while also reinforcing respectful behavior both on leash and in everyday environments.
Beyond training, Taylor oversees the day-to-day care and comfort of dogs on the property. From structured routines to enrichment and attentive handling, she ensures each dog is mentally engaged, physically comfortable, and well cared for throughout their stay. Her attention to detail and calm leadership create a welcoming environment for both dogs and their owners.
Taylor’s work is foundational to the success of every advanced program. By building strong early habits, confidence, and trust, she prepares dogs to transition seamlessly into Gundog, Advanced Gundog, and Performance Retriever training, or to thrive as well-mannered family companions.
Cullen White
Trainer | Gundog & Performance Programs
Cullen joined Cour’s Retrievers in the fall of 2024, bringing with him a strong background in dog training and a lifelong passion for hunting. Growing up as an avid hunter, Cullen understands exactly what is expected of a well-trained working retriever, both in the field and in everyday life.
Cullen has set the foundation for many dogs that have received Derby Placements, Qualified All-Age, All-Age, and Super Retriever Series (SRS) placements. As well as many family companions and advanced hunting retrievers.
His hands-on experience, patience, and attention to detail help ensure each dog receives consistent care and purposeful training. Cullen focuses on the Gundog, Advanced Gundog, and Performance Retriever divisions of our programs.
Matthew Lamb
Kennel Manager
Matthew has been with Cour’s Retrievers since the summer of 2022 and serves as our Kennel Manager. He plays a vital role in ensuring every dog is well cared for, comfortable, and maintained on a consistent daily routine.
In addition to overseeing kennel operations, Matthew is a valuable asset in the field, supporting training sessions and assisting with our working dogs to ensure smooth, structured days from start to finish.
