Gun Dog Training 4–5 Month Program

The Gun Dog Program at Cour’s Retrievers is designed for dogs ready to expand beyond basic obedience and become skilled hunting companions. Over 4–5 months, we train your retriever to perform in the field, building reliability, focus, and obedience while simulating real hunting conditions.

During this program, your retriever will:

• Be steady to shot – remain calm and focused during gunfire
• Retrieve on command – sent to fetch birds by name and reliably return to hand
• Deliver to hand – obediently release the bird into your hand at the heel position
• Navigate simulated hunting scenarios – from dove fields to hundreds of waterfowl decoys on land and water
   

This program is hands-on, field-focused, and designed to make your dog a trusted companion during hunting trips.

Completion of our Gun Dog Program prepares your retriever for AKC Junior Hunt Tests and UKC Started Hunt Tests, providing the foundation for advanced gundog and performance retriever programs.
