Advanced GunDog

The advanced gundog program is designed to expand the basic commands of a hunting retriever and to teach dogs to work with us a team to retrieve every bird down!

In this program we take being a gundog to a whole new level!

This is where retrievers become a key part of your hunting crew!

In this program, we are teaching them to trust us to be sent out for a retrieve they DID NOT see fall and guide them using whistle and hand signals to get there! This type of teamwork is something beautiful to watch and a must have in high action wing shooting! 

After completing the gundog program we will begin teaching the basic commands of a retriever capable of a blind retrieve! 

In the advanced program we will continue to expand the gundog program by teaching the ability to watch, remember, and complete multiple retrieves in the field.

The heart of the advanced program is the blind retrieve, using whistle and hand signals to guide your retriever to a bird they did not see fall. 

In high action wing shooting there tends to be multiple hunters and multiple birds falling in all directions, making it difficult for your retriever to see where each and every bird falls. 

This program teaches retrievers to be obedient and have the skill set to efficiently retrieve every bird down! 

We will train your dog in simulated high action hunting scenarios including waterfowl raining down with long sailing retrieves on land and water. As well as to quarter, flush, and be steady to shot in the upland field! Thus giving them the ability to be guided using whistle and hand signals to make any retrieve possible! 

Completion of this program makes them eligible for AKC Senior/UKC Seasoned Hunt Tests!

This program is the leading stages into the performance retriever program!
